'That's Life'... Doesn't Help
Grown Ups say a phrase to children which can discourage them
Students [like me] complain to their parents about always doing work and never getting free time. Sometimes parents replay back by saying, 'That's Life'. Parents don't find that to be discouraging, but what is that telling the kids? Well, for me it means that life never gives you any time to relax and you are always working no matter what. Children would never want to grow up and face life because it would only lead them to be miserable and tired all the time. They might even want to drop out of school. Why? Because parents put in children's minds that it is hard and will never get better. So they just want to stay young forever. This is not what we want to put in children's heads because they have a lot of potential.
Next time a parent says anything like that ask them what they mean. And parents make sure you don't put wrong ideas in children's heads.
